Administrative Fellowship Program
The two-year Administrative Fellowship at Keck Medicine of USC is a unique health care leadership development program that spans across USC's health enterprise. Led by Shawn Sheffield, chief strategy and business development officer, and Felipe Osorno, chief, Office of Performance and Transformation, the program provides fellows with opportunities for executive mentorship and hands-on learning in a world-class academic medical center.
Project work is determined by the fellow, fellowship preceptors and Keck Medicine of USC system leadership. Projects are selected based on the fellow's personal and career interests, as well as the needs of the organization. Potential project areas include, but are not limited to:

In addition to project work, fellows will attend executive level meetings and meet one-on-one with leaders throughout the organization.

Shawn Sheffield
Administrative Fellowship Executive Sponsor
Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer, Keck Medicine of USC
Shawn Sheffield oversees the development and execution of clinical strategic plans, business development, clinical acquisitions and affiliations, contracting/payor relations and marketing/public relations for the health system. Sheffield works closely with leadership to further the health system's goals of becoming a preeminent academic medical center and regional referral center. She also manages Keck Medicine's clinical affiliation relationships and other network partners.
Felipe Osorno
Administrative Fellowship Preceptor
Chief, Office of Performance and Transformation, Keck Medicine of USC
Felipe Osorno joined the Keck Medicine team in 2014. As Chief for the Office of Performance and Transformation, he is responsible for continued development and implementation of a culture of improvement across the organization. Besides the management of the organization's continuous improvement journey, he leads post-acute resources, care coordination and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit. His efforts look to bring interdisciplinary and strategically aligned operational efforts to the forefront of care at Keck Medicine.
Anne McGilvray
Associate Administrator, Organizational Effectiveness, Keck Medicine of USC
Anne McGilvray oversees several key areas meant to improve Keck Medicine's capabilities by aligning strategy, structure, people, rewards, metrics and management. Areas of oversight include talent management, employee and leadership development, organizational design and culture, as well as employee engagement and communications. As Keck Medicine continues to expand, McGilvray plays an instrumental role in ensuring that the health system is integrated and aligned so that the mission and vision of the organization is maintained, and the organization reaches its full potential.

Milan Urukalo – Current Fellow (2022)

Milan is currently an administrative fellow at Keck Medicine. Milan is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He received his bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration and Policy from Georgetown University and completed his Master of Healthcare Administration degree at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. His professional interests are patient experience, clinical operations, process improvement and strategic partnerships. Milan's personal interests include golf, watching and attending sporting events and movies. He is excited to explore all Los Angeles has to offer and to enjoy the warm weather.
Miranda Zaragoza – Current Fellow (2022)

Miranda is currently an administrative fellow at Keck Medicine. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Public Health and minor in Business Administration, then completed her master's degree in Health Administration and a master's in Health Informatics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The patient experience, digital health, strategic planning and process improvement are areas of professional interest that she is looking forward to gaining more exposure to. When Miranda is not at work, you can find her relaxing at the beach, getting coffee with friends, reading or traveling.
Ellen Cammarano – Current Fellow (2021)

Ellen is currently an administrative fellow at Keck Medicine. After earning her bachelor's degree in Human and Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University, she completed her Master of Public Health degree at Columbia University. Her professional interests include strategy, patient access, care quality and ambulatory service operations. Outside of work, Ellen enjoys road cycling, figure skating and continuing to explore her hometown of Los Angeles.

Keck Medicine of USC will be participating in the National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application Service (NAFCAS).
Apply via NAFCAS, no later than Oct. 7, 2022:

- Resume
- Sealed, official transcript from graduate institution
- Three letters of recommendation, including at least one letter from a faculty member of the candidate's graduate program
Keck Medicine is a member of the National Council on Administrative Fellowships, a collaboration of leading administrative fellowship sites and graduate health management programs, to improve the application process and fellowship experience.
Selection Timeline
- Oct. 7, 2022: Application deadline
- Mid-October to early November: Interview process
- Nov. 10, 2022: Official offer acceptance date
Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited graduate program.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative and self-motivated. They are collaborative with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical skills and proven academic success.
